The beginnings of the proper introduction....

Okay, so what is this all about? The triathlon plan for this year, all details yet to be finalized will go something like this. The "team" is committed to Muskoka 70.3, in Huntsville in September 2008. Between now and then we'll probably build in a few checkpoint events - the Burlington Chilly Half is becoming a tradition in March, and we'd like to convince "Team Polesky" that we should go to Huntsville for the long course in June (never been) and to Peterborough for the mid-season half-iron in July. There's apparently a new half-iron in Bracebridge in August, but that's not going to fit in next year's schedule. To top it all off, I'll probably throw in an end-of-season full marathon (PEC or Toronto) depending on how I feel at the end of next summer.

As a bit of background, this year just completed my third full year in the sport - it's a beauty. The "A-priority" race this year was the grand-daddy - IronMan Lake Placid. The race report will follow in a future post (gotta have a little suspense here!) Previously, I've done the Peterborough half-iron in 2006 and the Parry Sound half-iron (now extinct) in 2005. There have also been full marathons (Scotiabank) in 2004 and 2006.

In future posts, I'll also go through the training plan for next year, such as it is. I'm hoping that by writing this down, I'll be more likely to commit to it and follow through over the winter and through the season.

Cheers!

Toronto Maple Thieves....

So, the Toronto Maple Leafs "reportedly" made $83 million dollars profit, on $383 million revenue, or 22% profit margin, even better than the "kings" of thieves, the Royal Bank, which reported a 13% profit margin.

Furthermore, they're planning to raise ticket prices a total of 30% by (I think) 2011?

Wow. All that and no sniff of the playoffs for three years, and it's not looking good for this year either.

Nice.
